a5c7b9f00b A group of eccentric assassins are fed up with Gunther, the world's greatest hitman, and decide to kill him, but their plan turns into a series of bungled encountersGunther seems to always be one step ahead. I felt like the movie would've been better if it wasn't found footage and just completely embraced the fast paced goofiness.

I have only a few positives.

I liked Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was in the film, he seemed like he was having a lot of fun here. But fair warning, he's barely in it.

There was an element that I liked from one of the ending action scenes which was how the cameras were being knocked around but other that the action scene sucked along with the others.

I did laugh at some moments, although some of that was because of how bad it was.

Some of the visuals looked competent.

That's it for positives.

A lot of the comedy fell flat for me. Some of it honestly feels like they were trying too hard and comes offawkward.

The acting is bad and like the comedy, comes offawkward.

All the explosion effects looked awful.

I would've been fine with the bad effects if the movie went fully goofy like The Naked Gun or Kung Pow where nothing makes sense. But for this movie it feels like no one cared.

I felt the movie was a lot longer than an hour and a half because I didn't care about any of the characters and I kept wondering when Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the movie.

The saddest thing about the movie is I do see potential in the concept. If only it had a better script, characters, acting and maybe a different film style or just went screw it and went completely absurd. Short N Sweet review with no spoilers and no story beats:

It's, um, interesting..?

Acting: Taran Killam, technically the lead in this ensemble movie, overacts in every scene he's in, just like he did on Saturday Night Live, which made me roll my eyes, repeatedly. Bobby Moynihan, also an SNL alumni, overacts justmuch, and yet.. it works for him, go figure. The rest of the cast are decent to great depending on the actor/actress, but they all make the unbelievable plot fun.

Production: The camera work is stellar for a low budget film. However, some of the comedy-specific directing choices miss the intended mark.

Conclusion: Overall, it's entertaining, but you're left wishing they'd went a bit more serious with the movie, dropped all the cheesy trying-too-hard jokes, kept the good comedic relief moments, and it could've been an excellent low budget action comedy with a lot of heart. Can't say much more about my thoughts on that, or i'll spoil the movie for some.

Recommendation: Definitely watch this movie, it IS entertaining. But go in with low expectations and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. Killing Gunther is an astonishingly unfunny film considering the level of sheer comedic talent involved in it. Its lack of energy or character development keeps the film from ever finding its groove.
